Currently, 20
species (12 endangered and 8 threatened) of Korean mammals are designated as
Endangered Species by the Ministry of Environment. Due to drastic decrease,
Korean hare (Lepus coreanus) and hedgehog (Erinaceus amurensis)
are candidates for endangered. Although the designation, ecological research on
the endangered mammals have not been implemented vigorously. We’ve worked for
correct distribution and density for endangered mammals.
Also, we’ve
provided historical information on the extirpated mammals and suggested proper
restoration strategies.
